The purpose of this Testing Forum is to familiarize yourself with the features/how things work and to help me /provide feedack about find bugs and things to improve. This forum is Mission Impossible in that it will (eventually) self destruct (be removed) but all of the other forums are live. Your posts in the Recipe Swap and other forums are permanent.

I have been noticing that when a member posts a reply to a post, it shows as 2 replies, rather than 1 post, 1 reply. Example…..Wonderful Veggies. This is truly a serious problem, isn’t it? Yikes!

Happy Canada Day if there is any other Canuck around today.

@marg-cdn2 do you mean because the replies are not indented? This is intentional. The reason for it is to optimize for readability on small screens. This is why most forums don’t allow indented/nested replies at all any more. The indented replies make it harder to read on small screens. When you get multiple nested replies on a small screen you might be reading 3 or even 1 letter per line so it gets ridiculous. For most sites now the only place you will see nested replies is on the comments for blog posts.

You can do an indented (nested) reply here, but you have to reply to a specific reply (reply to reply) using the hover over reply to arrow in that specific reply. If you just use the “Reply” button it won’t be indented/nested.

There’s an example of what I meant, on the site right now. One person posts, another person replies, and it appears as 2 replies. (Minted Pork Loin)

It certainly is not something that bears attention but just thought you might like to take a look.

@marg-cdn2 There was a major version upgrade done to some software yesterday and several other changes. There are some bugs working through today, however on the page you mentioned it looks correct to me. I see your original post, a reply from one member to you and then a reply to that reply from another member.

Yes, every time I mention this to you, there’s a time lag and some other character posts another reply before you get to see it.

so you are saying that it looks proper now but right after you posted it did not? since no one else has mentioned it, I wonder if it isn’t some sort of cache issue in your local browser. I cannot reproduce the behavior but if anyone else can, please let me know.

Consistently, the number of replies is always one more than actually exists. In my little system, it always seems to include the original poster in the number.

@marg-cdn2 where are you seeing this issue with the number of replies?

                Here’s an example:

That’s how it shows on the window that opens Recipe Swap. But when you open the post, there is one original post and 2 replies. Now, inside it shows as 3 posts, rather than being broken down into post v.s. replies.

It is that way consistently. I think the inside window has just changed recently to show it as the numbers of posts only.

OK I see what you are saying. On the post/thread page it says: 3
members, 3 posts (which is accurate. Here it is not distinguishing
posts vs replies just the number of posts to the thread) On the list
page it says 3 members 3 replies. So the terminology is mixed. It is
not distinguished on the display between posts and replies simply for
layout /spacing. But mixing the terminology is not good.

When I reply to someone who has replied to an original post, the window always opens up telling me that I am replying to the original poster, even though I have clicked on the respondent’s post…..REPLY.

@marg-cdn2 if you hit the green Reply button this WILL reply to the original post. If you hit the arrow within a reply then your reply will be nested to that reply.

where do you see it indicated in the window that you are replying to the original post?
