Blue Corn and it's products...blue food in general.

Ok, so the spotted dick sponge pudding, brought on a Spam blog on my biker blogs, and the subject of blue corn came up. I remember when blue corn products became the THING to serve. Questions:

Isn't that flat bread Manz made at my Epi party in 2000, traditionally made with blue cornmeal? I seem to remember it as blue corn. She made that awesome posole too. 24 buckaroos at Stephen Pyle's crib.

Most blue corn products are down right ugly, is my premise. They taste fine. Do you think blue corn tortillas chips are ugly?

My ex sister in law would not serve anything else when blue corn products became available. I would bet money that Austin TX made blue corn products popular. Does anyone know how the blue corn from NM made it as a fad in TX?

I agree-everything made with it is ugly gray and yellow tastes best of all to me

White seems to be supplanting yellow in everything now and it has a refined and sweet flavor to me. I prefer the old hearty "corny" yellow.

Have to disagree--everywhere I've had it in NM, it's been fresh, flavorful. Not exactly a fad there.
