Cookie Drop for DJ Update

We're on track for a mailing directly to DJ and his buddies by December 7th.

Marg will be giving us names of soldiers in DJ's unit to send packages to.

I hope to get some more info from DJ as to the best goodies to send. I know homemade goodies are always welcome, along with hard candy (Jolly Ranchers, etc) and the single-shot Crystal Lite for flavoring individual water bottles. Phone cards are welcome too.

Thanks, Michael, will be watching for this. Also the other evening, I had a chance to chat with a

young man returning from his second tour--he said any and all goodies are so appreciated. Also the socks, lip balm, bug dope with deet (other kinds do not work), bath soap (full size bars), jerky, are among the things that go fast. I also noticed ketchup on the list Ang put a link for?

I'm doing Almond Butter Crunch. Seriously close to peanut brittle, but contains copious amounts...

...of chocolate.

It might melt, but, hey, what-the-hey! Melted chocolate on top of butter and almonds.... oy.

Do I need to answer that? It's all I make. All my loved ones have let me know, nicely, not to bother

with anything else.

 
Got a question - is the chocolate still a problem this time of year?

I thought I read somewhere that it was okay to send during the winter months....

I've been collecting little things here and there for my box, but will plan the baking when we get more definite dates.
