The book has a beautifully decorated red stocking on it. I'm interested in the recipe for Creamy Christmas Butter Cookies. I'm wondering if they're roll-out or shaped into balls.

Creamy Christmas Butter Cookies
Whimsical Bakehouse Recipe

8 ounces (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 large egg
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon salt

Mix butter, sugar, vanilla just till blended. Add in egg. Add dry ingredients to wet at low speed till combined.
Shape dough into 3/4 inch balls. Arrange 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Flatten each ball with a fork. Sprinkle tops with sanding sugar.
Bake 8-10 minutes at 350 degrees or until lightly colored around edges. Let cool in pan for 5 minutes ten transfer to a wire rack.
