from CI: Enhance pie crust with flavorings

I already do this in a simple way with apple pie crust: I add cinnamon and reduced apple cider as part of the liquid. I did this because I always thought pie crust was really boring.

It's not anymore.

CI suggests:
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract, removing 2 tsp of the ice water >> any fruit pie crust
  • 1 tsp dried lavender, grind with recipe's sugar and salt >> use with blueberry or strawberry pie or a vegetable galette
  • 1 tsp dried thyme + 1 tsp grated lemon zest, grind with recipe's sugar and salt >> use with peach pie, chicken pie, savory galette

I love that idea marilyn. I do it with my lemon bars, I always add lemon zest to the crust. Everyone loves them. Ina garten lemon bars with my tweak.

I'm thinking too. My neighbours have lavender and rosemary growing all winter here; I could just go out late and night with my snippers. Wouldn't thyme be good for a chicken pot pie?!
