Cream Cheese-Filled Cookie Bars

1 cup butter -- softened

2 cups firmly packed brown sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 1/2 cup unsifted flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

2 cups uncooked quick oats

Filling:

1 can condensed milk, sweetened

1 8-ounce package cream cheese

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup chopped walnuts

Frosting:

2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate pieces

1/3 Cup of Filling (above)

2 tablespoons milk -- (if needed to thin)

Beat the butter, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla in bowl until blended. Add the flour, baking soda, salt and oats. Spread over the bottom of an ungreased cookie sheet.

Combine the condensed milk, cream cheese and vanilla until smooth; measure out and keep about 1/3 cup for frosting. Spread rest over oatmeal mixture; add walnuts on top. Bake at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes.

While the bars bake, prepare frosting:

Put chocolate pieces and remaining filling in small saucepan. Heat, stirring constantly over low heat, until melted. If too thick, thin with a little milk. When bars are done, remove from oven and let cool a few minutes. Drizzle frosting over the top of the cookies and cool before cutting into bars. Refrigerate leftovers.

I picked the recipe from my four star files and it has your name attached--tried to access..

your cookie thread but had no luck--sorry.

Lisa how did you do that? I looked and looked and it seemed all the links were broken, or whatever

it's called. Great find.

I Googled one of the more unique recipe names from the list -

I think it was the Snickerdoodles one - and came up with the link.

I've never seen a link like the one posted in Dawn's original post before.
