RECIPE: Dianne's Beef Stroganoff, SIMPLE and delicious, here it is:

BEEF STROGANOFF

Ingredients:

1 pound ground beef
½ can mushrooms (drained, from a 4oz can-use pieces and stems mushrooms)
1 onion white or yellow, chopped and diced
4 cubes beef bouillon cubes
2 cups water
½ teaspoon dried dill weed
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 ½ cups sour cream (use fat free)
3 TABLESPOONS all-purpose flour

1 package medium wide egg noodles (use no yolks or wheat for low carb)

Step 1
In a bowl or a glass-measuring cup, add 2 cups of water then add the 4 bullion cubes and microwave for 4 minutes then stir. Place aside. Bullion cubes should dissolve.

Step 2
In an extra large skillet, sauté onions (use cooking spray to coat skillet) until onions are tender, than briefly add mushrooms to the onions and sauté for up to 2 minutes and remove from skillet and place in a bowl.

Step 3
In an extra large skillet (use same skillet) brown ground beef, then rinse ground beef clean, rinse skillet, and return browned ground beef to skillet, or in a steamer (for 10 minutes) steam ground beef, than rinse and crumble with hands.

Step 4
In extra large skillet place browned ground beef. Add the dissolved beef bullion water to ground beef. Stir and mix thoroughly. Add sautéd onions and mushrooms. Stir and mix thoroughly. Add dill weed and black pepper, mix thoroughly.

Step 5
Cook ground beef mixture, uncovered, on medium, until the liquid is reduced by half, approximately 10 to 15 minutes.

Step 6
While waiting for the liquid to reduce by half, in a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour into the sour cream and combine. Set aside. Cook the egg noodles according to package and drain when done then place in a large bowl. Set aside (actually the noodles should be done when the beef stroganoff is done)

Step 7
When liquid is reduced by half, add sour cream mixture to ground beef mixture, and mix thoroughly. Turn of the stove. Let sit for a few minutes to thicken.

Step 8
Add a few ladle spoonfuls of beef stroganoff to drained egg noodles, to prevent noodles from sticking. Add Beef Stroganoff on top of a plate full of egg noodles and serve.

Hmmm... I copied this down at my sister's and neglected to put servings...

I'd say it would serve 6 judging by the amount of beef and noodles. This is really a good recipe - if Cook's Illustrated does it, it's almost a given smileys/smile.gif

This is just the best! I gave up the recipe I'd used for years when I tried this one and for the

record, dh and I can eat the whole thing with noodles and a salad.

It's a little tedious to make, just be sure you have your Mise en place in the order they'll be used, but then perhaps I'm just easily confused.

Oh dear, did I misspell it? I just meant having everything measured & ready to use before starting.

We just finished our dinner of Beef Stroganoff cheezz. Delicious! It's

a for sure keeper. If I love it and Curious loves it shouldn't it go in T&T? I haven't looked to see if it's already there. Thanks for a great recipe.
