Starlight...welcome! Okay, is this a trend or what?

I have a friend named Crescent Dragonwagon (no joke...James Beard Award-winning author) and now Starlight Dancer.

I told you it was great to be here, Trust me, you'll get to know and care about everyone smileys/smile.gif

I do. I have tried many recipes from this site, my family say that I have hit a gold mine. I enjoy the comraderie and the light banter, but always leave this site with a good feeling even if it's just reading other's threads, it a possitive energizing site, many happiness smileys/smile.gif

Hi Traca, re: Crescent Dragonwagon

I made her Ginger-Lime Sorbet for our bacon-wrapped fiasco, and it was the highlight of the entire meal, as far as I was concerned. I have no idea where I found the recipe though.

Ginger-Lime Sorbet

Recipe By :Crescent Dragonwagon
Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00
Categories : Desserts

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

2 cups water
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons fresh ginger -- peeled and finely chopped
2 limes, zested and juiced

Bring the water and sugar to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Add the ginger, lime peel and lime juice. Let mixture steep and cool. You may strain the solids out at this point. Place in your ice cream freezer and freeze according to manufacturer's directions.

Dnote: I did not strain the mixture, but the next time I would add the ginger and lime zest to the sugar syrup and simmer for five minutes. I still would not strain it. This was very refreshing and cleansing after such a fat laden meal. We have vowed never to do a bacon-wrapped meal again.

Dawn...how cool is that? It's amazing how recipes & food can draw us together.

Crescent is one terrifically amazing woman and I count my lucky stars that I know her. If you get a chance to pick up one of her books...do. The recipes are great and the stories within are just wonderful too. Her books make for great cookbook reading. smileys/smile.gif

Soup & Bread is her best seller, and The Passionate Vegetarian is the one she won the James Beard Award for. This fall she's got another book coming out called The Cornbread Gospells.
