Hi all,

Since joining Weight Watchers in March, I'm sadly not coming to FK very often - only to briefly lurk a few times a week. Too hard for me to see all the yummy stuff that I can eat only in moderation (of course, if I was good at moderation, I probably wouldn't be at Weight Watchers!).

Anyway, I've been enjoying reading blogs and ran across this free (through September) subscription to this nice e-zine on, well, seasonal delights and other stuff. No affiliation, just thought a few here might enjoy it.

"primarily designed for young ladies and their mothers, but can be enjoyed by anyone who loves celebrating the joys of each passing season."

Hope you all are doing well!

Debbie

Hi Debbie! 15 lbs. is awesome! Keep your focus and don't be deterred by...

...a plateau.

I hit one about half way to my goal. It started to bother me, but I stayed focused on the overall plan, and reminded myself that what worked for the first half is sure-as-heck gonna work for the second half! (I was right).

I know about temptation. I still do 98% of the cooking in this house (Lisa and the two boys), and even though I've tweaked the menu a bit to get more healthy foods on the table, I still find it necessary to exercise considerable self-control at dinner time.

Hang in there!!

Thanks so much, Michael and Cathy, for your words of encouragement...

I helps coming from successful people that I know enjoy cooking and eating.

I don't know how you continue to remain "foodies" and frequent this site AND cook yummy stuff. Maybe once my food addition withdrawal calms down I can be more flexible and more importantly better at moderation with food I like.

Did you guys get rid of all your regular cookbooks? I'm tempted to get rid of the hundreds of ones I've accumulated over the years, but fear I'd then just have to kill myself for my stupidity!

I think Junebug is right. I crave healthy mediterranean style stuff at this point. Lots of...

...greek salads, chicken shish-kabobs, grilled veggies, grilled fish, etc.

Loving the cooked mixed grains, Dawn/Mo's bean salads, and anything with tomatoes and cukes.

Don't get rid of cookbooks. I think that's a mistake. Just steel your attitude to taking the goodies in moderation, and living to eat another day!

Regular cardio work doesn't hurt either. I just bought the better part of a new wardrobe and the slacks were of a size I haven't seen since High School! What a great day that was. My waist size is the same as it was then, but now I'm a lean 230 pounds, not 160.

Right! You can often take a recipe and keep the flavor combinations while reducing fat and calories

by tweaking the amounts--decrease the oil and cheese; increase the veggies. Desserts...well some of those recipes are best left alone, but make them count! Have a tiny portion after a satisfying healthy meal. Or have fruit for dessert.

The world of dieters needs creative cooks to come up with tasty, nutritious recipes!
