I've been bursting to tell you all for weeks how awesome these are, and now I can. smileys/smile.gif JudyinMA has started to make wonderful Provencal-style garlic graters, and I was lucky enough to test some of the first few out of the kiln!
One of mine looks like this! Stoneware Garlic Grater in Robin's Egg and Straw (sold out, but gorgeous design; let's persuade her to make more)
Here's one that's available (as of this evening, still, I think):
Stoneware Garlic Grater in Blue Shino and Brown (not yet sold out)
These are a terrific way to grate garlic (just by rubbing it against the bottom of the dish, which has a pressed, nubby grating center that doesn't mangle your fingers) to then use for vinaigrette. Or chicken. Or anything. Best of all, the grater looks lovely (mine is glazed in shades of green), and you can just drizzle oil in it and set it out with focaccia. (I also started using mine for snacks.)
The texture you get with these is great--it makes garlic perfect for slathering on chicken and bread. (Am I the only one whose garlic, when sliced, falls off stuff?)
Anyway, these are beautiful pieces that are wonderfully functional; they're now available from Judy's Etsy shop, and here's hoping Judy will accept orders for the holidays... smileys/smile.gif
