Psa: don’t text and cook

Who knew that the outer layer of my tri ply pan could LIQUIFY if I forgot about it, which I did when someone text me and I walked out of the kitchen and kept chatting. When I lifted the pan off the burner, it literally was dripping in puddles onto the cooktop. Luckily, I was able to quickly scrape them up before they set permanently. And I feel like another ad for barkeeper friend. Those drip marks left unsightly burn marks on my 1959 pink cooktop, which I was sure I had just ruined. However, barkeepers friend to the rescue it cleaned up all the burn marks on the pink without removing the pink paint. I do think I should replace the murder (I typed burner and it autocorrected to murder, which seems right) unit itself though because there’s tiny bits, I couldn’t scrape off and it’s ugly now. when I took the lid off, and burnt my fingers, the bottom of the pan was bright red hot (given the water boiled away). I hope I don’t lose my keys to the kitchen, goodness me, what a dumb move. Don’t text while cooking!

A full 5 minutes of cooling and when water splashed it stilled sizzled and steamed up!

Yikes! I know that I could easily ruin dinner or worse, start a fire, if I walk away from something cooking on the stove without setting a timer.

However, I really think that a melting pan is a sign of poor manufacture and I'd certainly reach out to Cuisinart for an explanation and replacement!

Yes, I was shocked it melted. I was gone maybe 5-10 minutes and I thought I shouldn’t buy another because of it, but it was a favorite, so already ordered a new one. Learned my lesson!

It was to me too! When I lifted the pan off the burner it started dripping all over. From the bottom. Now, this isn’t the first time I’ve walked away from a pan in all my years, but it’s the first one that melted. I’d never seen anything like it before!
