so...here's the rub: I don't like pimentos; I don't like pimento cheese; I don't like corn bread (at least not this local puritanical version with no sugar & no butter).
But I do have a dear 84-year old Charleston-born neighbor with cancer.
I'd like to make this for him, but truly have no concept what it will end up like. It is, provisionally, a strata or bread pudding, which is always nice. And a cheesy one, which makes it even nicer. I just can't get around the pimentos and cornbread...those are just putting the brakes on for me. In addition, his favorite food is pimento cheese, so I was going to give him some of that too.
I don't enjoy giving people food that I wouldn't eat myself. And it would take a lot for me to enjoy this. (I am also not a cornbread & sausage stuffing gal. Nope)
So should I put my ick-factor on hold and do it for him regardless of my own feelings about these ingredients?
