Made my spinach dip for grad party. Told them I’d made a change, but did it still taste ok. It was fine, but…what I’d I change?

I didn’t use best foods (hellmans) mayonnaise:

this was the reaction I got, lol. From everyone! I had both best foods and Dukes and I taste tested at plain before I put it in the recipe and best foods tasted very forward of salt and the Dukes I thought tasted really good so I went with Dukes just to see if anybody would notice. One person said it taste sweeter, but it taste good. Most everybody else was just horrified that it didn’t have best food they said it, but they ate it anyway, lol.

LOL. I'm a Duke's convert for several years now, you won't go back. And they'll get used to it. ;)
 
I've never taken to American mayonnaise (not that we eat it, DH hates any mayo), but DD recently introduced me to Kewpie mayonnaise, and I keep a bottle in the fridge for sneaky little indulgences, like chicken sandwiches. Yum.
 
I don't think that Hellman's/Best Foods is just terribly different. I don't find Duke's or Blue Plate (my favorite) to be sweet which is one reason I like them. I can't stand Miracle Whip, talk about sweet! And Kewpie is sort of sweet to me. There is also a difference in which Kewpie you get. I can't remember them now but evidently it is a pretty significant difference.
 
I haven’t tasted miracle whip since that one time at a friend's house when I was 12. It’s a hard no, lol.

If I came home with something other than best foods when my husband was alive, he would’ve questioned my sanity. He was all about the Mayo.
