I found this great naturally non-stick fry pan at a thrift store for 2 bucks. I'm cheap, I only pay full price for socks, bra's, undies, and swim suits, plus gifts. It's white enamel inside, and bright orange outside. It was a great find. I gave it to my Cherokee. Now I want one, but the only things I find are non-stick coated inside, enamel outside real frying pan. I find kettles with the ceramic inside like this one. The pan has no brand name on it, and it must be very old. Here's what I found though:

I buy THEM new, but yes thrift stores do

sell underwear. Actually my reason for buying in thrift stores is political, and I have Neiman Marcus labels, plus others that would have cost a fortune. Buying in thrift stores keeps me from supporting high dollar label manufacturer's sweat shops in China, Mexico, etc, it keeps money turning over in my community, and a lot of shopaholics buy stuff they never use once! Now my foot wear and riding leathers...must be top quality. I buy new boots and shoes. The Latin American communities turn a dollar over 10 to 12 times in their own communities before it leaves. It's a great system. Now I'm still looking for an inside coated enamel frying pan....I might have to buy that kettle.

My friend only shops at thrift stores, garage sales and estate sales. She has found Le Crueset for

$20 and less, cut crystalware for really cheap, silver and Spode for next to nothing. doesn't matter if it's filthy, things clean up wonderfully! Her latest find was a rather rusty cast iron chicken fryer with lid for $5. she scrubbed the rust off with steel wool, reseasoned it and it is just amazing. I'm also super jealous of her Copco oval baking dish (large enough for a chicken) for $12. Now I'm keeping my eyes open. Found a Wedgewood vase in the Wild Strawberry pattern completely covered in grime and other gunk - disgusting - I got a discount for its condition! $9.99! It's so beautiful!!!! My latest find is a set of sterling silver forks, salad size but a longer handle, 12 for $20. I will never pay retail again. Except for my Kitchenaid grinder attachment but it was on sale!

I have snagged several LeCrueset pieces from thrift stores

and a few odd kitchen collectibles and cookbooks dating back to the early 1900s. Two of my favorite finds are an old rolling pin (still in the box) made from "air craft aluminum" and a 1940s juicer.

I love thrift stores! I've been buying all kinds of silver recently and a rectangle

tart pan for $2.99! It's amazing what you find...especially the odd-sized kitchen stuff. I've bought bundt, tube and popover pans. And since I entertain a lot, I quit using plastic. I have a whole set of party silverware from Goodwill, serving trays, platters, plates, cups, linens. It's amazing what people get rid of...china in whole sets, etc.

I had a great day at the thrift stores last week.
a 5 qt Revere saucepan-old style with rivets in handles $6
LeCreuset 12" skillet $7
hand hammered/signed aluminum tray $1.50
silver plated punch ladle from 1880 in perfect shape $2
I had a baby shower for a Christmas baby with snow babies and bought all kinds of white stuff to decorate with for 50 cents to $2 at thrift stores.

Yeah, I'm afraid this year I've created a monster. I'm day dreaming about shopping the

markets in Paris and wondering how I can ship stuff home. smileys/smile.gif Is a cargo container out of the question?!?

HA!! Remember in the old movies where women traveled with TRUNKS! That'd be us smileys/smile.gif
