A big shout out to Penzeys Spice for good customer service...

I placed by yearly bulk order a few days ago. When I was doing my inventory, I missed that I was almost out of granulated garlic, and my bulk bag had been emptied and tossed out. I sent them an email asking to add the garlic to my order. I received a nice email from them this afternoon saying they got my order but my first order has been shipped. They are sending me the bulk garlic package and waived the shipping, and wished me a Merry Christmas! How about that!

 
It seems unbelievable that a person would even order $50 worth of spices, doesn't it?!

I grew up with salt & pepper - sometimes cinnamon. Mom wasn't a cook.

 
That is great! I love it when a company does something like that.... It reinforces your decision

make them your "go to" for spices. Very smart decision on their part.

 
I've been shopping at Penzeys and The Spice House

for years and am so pleased with their customer service. I've never had a problem. The one item that I've never thought to order was Bay Leaves until a couple weeks ago. What a revelation! There is just no comparison to the quality of these Bay leaves. They are huge, fragrant. I could tell the difference immediately in my stew. . I threw out my old leaves .

 
Not at all, I do lots of cooking, as most of us do, and I also have an herb garden

Since I buy in bulk once a year, and usually a small order during that time, to order something new or something I don't buy in bulk, but in small jars, like Poultry Seasoning and a few others.

 
I managed to do so, lol. You are so right about the salt, pepper, paprika and cinnamon. My dad

would have balked at anything else.

 
I am not familiar with Savory Spice Shop, so I looked them up and this caught my eye

so many possibilities.

I have had the Black Onyx chocolate--it is something to deal

with. VERY chocolate.
When you go in a Savory Spice shop (and they now have a number around the country) you actually SMELL the spices. They weigh them out for you. You could get a tablespoon, if you wanted. LOVE them.
