A family friend is on the new Food Network Special - Rachel vs Guy: Kids Cook-Off

I've pretty much stopped watching anything on Food Network over the past few years, but we had to tune in to see how he does. He is a really great kid, and a talented cook. At the link, he is the boy in the blue T-shirt.

I was visiting his mom one morning a few weeks ago, and he came in and asked her if they had any garlic or fresh herbs, as he wanted to make something for breakfast. About 10 minutes later, a heavenly garlic-y scent was wafting out of the kitchen - he made some sort of omelette. Not typical middle schooler fare, for sure. LOL!

He also wrote a cookbook with his mom - Twist It Up. It's got a nice selection of some basic comfort food recipes in it - our favorite birthday cake comes from his book.

I absolutely loved this show and I am thrilled that one of them

will have their own show! That is a fantastic idea and I loved him also by the way. I love them all honestly and am rooting like crazy. How fun for you!

 
LOL - we had those - I suspect it was the same can of pepper the entire 18 years I was there, too!

I never thought I liked black pepper until I had some freshly ground peppercorns - a revelation!
