a friend in need is a friend indeed! I invited our dear friends and neighbor over

randi

Well-known member
for dinner tonight. girlfriend told me they will bring another bottle of their 1980's Chateu bottled french wine. I told her no, cause I'm experimenting with leftovers and they should save it for when I'm "really" cooking.

"no, no, they have to be opened and drunk now..."

what's a friend to do? I have to help them out with their wine cellar.... "-)))

ooooh, so looking forward to this evening's meal!

I made Richard's potato dumplings and I'm just thrilled cause there is no flour

and I can eat them. since I didn't make the sauerbraten they need some oommpf. I made spinach and ricotta gnocchi a couple of nights ago. those I started too late in the day and then there was the little lost dog so they are not as firm as they should be still good.

I'm going to slice the potato dumplings and put them in the oven to heat up. on top, I'll add some sauteed portabellas and finish the dish with a gorganzola cream sauce. the gnocchi will be fine heated up.

I'm pouring a bottle of chardonay over pears, adding chopped, crystalized ginger and baking them. I also have some canolli shells and Greg has never had canolli. all I have to do is mention I've been cooking Italian to them they go nuts! they're both super cooks and Greg wants to make the caesar salad too.

my Don is in charge of decanting the wines and the music! it's just a simple and snuggy meal around the Island tonight.

What time shall I be there? Canolli calls to me - DH always teases me

about them when we go out - since I'm the only one who likes them, they always end an "out" Italian meal for me.

Everything sounds fabulous - pototo dumplings & gorgonzola are a match made in heaven.

get a flight that gets you into Eugene by 4pm and you'll be at our doorstep

a little after six, in time to watch the sun set over the pacific. annnd, the glasses are kept as full as the hearts at our dinners....
