A friend is so excited at her new KitchenAid mixer, it reminded me of mine 14 years ago...

Got me to thinking...if you have a KA, how old is it and do you still use it as much as you thought you would? I probably use mine 2 to 3x a week.

And finally, what is your favorite attachment? Mine is the sausage maker.

19 years for me. I use it all the time. The smartest thing I ever bought was a second bowl for it.

No attachments for me. Got mine in February of '92. That's 19 years ago.

Dear Wifey was worried it would take up space on the counter and gather dust.

Well, it did then, and still does, take up space on the counter, but it gets used at least 2 to 4 times a week.

For bread-making alone it is worth the price. Christmas baking hasn't been the same in 19 years, I promise!

I got mine back in the mid-80's...

and it has a corner of the counter to itself and is always plugged in and ready to go.

It doesn't get as much use as when I was baking loads of bread, but it still works every week.

No complaints!

As for attachments, I'd say sausage maker, but I gave that along with grinder to my older daughter. I had to go buy a replacement grinder, but have not gotten the sausage horn again...yet.

Mine's from April '92. I worked for a local department store that held a twice yearly warehouse...

sale. I got a gift certificate for working sale and used my employee discount to buy mine. It was still a very big investment for me at that time. I have never once regretted it!

Mine is 17 years old, and I only use it a few times a month, but it is one of my favorite

kitchen appliances/tools/gadgets.

I got it as a birthday gift - my friends thought I was insane asking for that instead of jewelry.

I'm such an old fogey. Mine goes back to about 1980. I used it this week to make the date bread

from Barefoot Contessa, but I must admit that many a month goes by these days and it doesn't get used. I love making dinner every day, not so much on baking, but I still love the KA. About a year ago, I purchased the pasta maker, haven't gotten the nerve up to try it yet.

I use my pasta attachment to roll out fondant. That way I keep my

ATLAS attach to the counter with a book and a clamp (the clamp doesn't quite close far enough) for the pasta and crackers. LOL...I have one for sweet and one for savory.

I've had mine for 27 years and I still love it. My only attachment is the meat grinder,

which I use to make chopped liver.

I've got an unopened KA juicer attachment. Anyone want it?

It came in a set of KA attachments and I already have a small electric juicer for lemons/oranges.

I obtained two KAs ~5 years ago, a small one that was free (by using credit card bonus points) and then I upgraded to a larger one by paying $64 + I was supposed to return the small KA. KA never sent the paperwork to pick up the smaller one, even though I called them 4 times over the course of a year. Little KA sat by the front door, boxed up and ready to go day after day. Finally, KA Customer Service said to just keep it.

I love KA.

PS: I firmly believe this was KArma. I was ready to buy a KA and instead donated the $550 to buy hearing aids for children. The next month I received a letter saying my credit card bonus points would expire if I didn't use them that month and one of the options was a small KA. I got it, but had to call KA customer service with a complaint. I was asked if I wanted to upgrade to the larger version...for a whopping $64. I explained I hadn't PAID for the first one but they were cool about it. They shipped out the larger KA that week. A year and 4 phone calls later, they finally told me to keep the smaller one.

I loved the customer service the one time I had to call.

I had used my first full time paycheck after going back to work when my son entered kindergarten. So very proud of myself and my hard earned money, buying the KA, a long time dream. I had it only a few months when the ring fell off while mixing something. This was the same day Princess Diana passed away and a holiday weekend. I had to wait until Tuesday to call customer service, but they were very nice. Told me they were shipping a new one out that very day. Sure enough, a few days later the new one arrived and I put the original one in that box for UPS to come back and pick up the next day.

My Kitchen Aid is from the 1950's if not the 1940's...it belonged to

my husband's uncle. We inherited it when he passed away in the early 80's. Works perfectly. My father-in-law worked for Hobart, and my husband used to to work summers for him as a teenager, fixing commercial equipment in restaurants and delis.
I think I have every attachment ever made...all heavy metal, and all in pefect working condition. Wouldn't trade it for the world!
