A friend of mine daughter is getting married and are going to Hawaii for the honeymoon

We had a fun dinner at Bubba Gump's; Bongo Bens is the BEST place for breakfast... super nice!

I think the 'gecko restaurant' (aka The Coffee Shack, south of Kona) is a must... especially if you have children.
Our favorite beach was Hapuna Beach - lots of soft sand and blue water and uncrowded.
And it was super-cool snorkeling; all the beautiful fish and even some turtles came by!

You can see all my pics at the link. Sorry, you'll have to zip past all the family pics smileys/smile.gif

just wondered if she really meant Hawaii the island or the state in general and maybe one of the

other islands. people often say they are vacationing in "Hawaii", but are really going to Oahu or Maui etc etc. I know I do this.

Huh! I never think of any other island as 'Hawaii' ... like thinking of New Mexico as California *g*

Hey, Ang, I'm finally planning an Alaska cruise... not getting as far as Anchorage, but SO excited!

Yes! Although I haven't put down my $$ yet, the plan is Ketchikan, Tracy Arm Fjork Juneau, Skagway

Twas a few years ago, but loved our cruise from Anchorage to Vancouver. Highlights were

the Alaska State Museum in Juneau, a 3 hour train trip through goldrush country out of Skagway, walking on a glacier, and halibut sandwiches almost anywhere. We took our cruise in July and it was chilly and misty, but oh so beautiful. The gardens were amazing with huge flowers.

I had to get out the momentos from that trip. The gardens are called Green Angel Gardens and are

near Juneau. Beautiful place. Other flowers and gardens were observed strolling about towns.

I think we visited glaciers twice, one place was an overlook or something like that and the other one could go out a little ways. To really go out you have to have the gear. The two I have brochures for are near Seward and Juneau. I see you're not going to Seaward. Mendonhall Glacier is near Juneau, I just can't remember if it's the one we walked on or not. Hopefully, you'll have a long day in Juneau, so much to see and do there. I could have spent so much more time at the museum.

It's been 11 years since that cruise and it sticks in my mind as my favorite, the others were either through Panama Canal or in the Caribbean. It was a smallish ship and the captain went out of his way to take us close to a glacier that was shedding. Amazing scenery. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time. Just take plenty of warm clothing. Now that I've said that, you'll probably hit a heat wave!

carol, did you find out which island of Hawaii the honeymooners are visiting? it would help with

our suggestions.
