A little off topic....Bourbon question

Hi guys.

Any bourbon afficionados out there? I love bourbon and have collected quite a few bottles, but this weekend had an opportunity to try the King of bourbons.

Anyone heard of Pappy Van Winkle, and if so, any hints on where to procure it? We went down to Oregon wine country this weekend to give our livers a workout, and the hotel where we stayed had it on the menu. Pappy Van Winkle's 20-year bourbon made me swoon. Everyplace on the web I've found is sold out.

Would appreciate any guidance from the other drunkards out there smileys/smile.gif

Marc, I was just in Lexington over the weekend and had my hand on a bottle...

Let me know if you don't find it. We only live about 80 miles from the mother ship.

So do you recall how much it was retail? The online prices vary so much, I have no clue how much is too much.

Damn, son. That stuff is 'spensive! Hardly seems worth it for a couple of bourbons and coke.

This seems to be the least expensive bottle I could find and since you missed my last birthday, I'd be happy to take a bottle (of the case you'll be buying) off your hands. Ahem.

It is definitely a splurge thing, but it was like the first time you have a truffle or real caviar....it was one of those "OHHHHH, I get it now" moments.

Seriously, if you like bourbon this stuff is the shi...well, you know smileys/smile.gif

***IF*** I get my hands on a bottle it will be under the radar. One of those things purchased with cash siphoned from the grocery store when they so generously ask "Would you like cash back" when swiping your debit card. smileys/wink.gif

Because all relationships are about open and honest communications with your cheapassed spouse.

Ok, from what I read they have a Spring/Fall release and post when/where on FB

Ok, so the link is to Twitter, but it has the FB link, I being someone that doesn't do FB, couldn't open it. However it looks like they are also posting releases on TW.

From what I read one must snap this stuff up when it ships. Different retailers handle it differently. Some use a lottery, some a mailing list and some just put them on the shelves. Start talking to your local retailer now and try to get on a list for Van Winkles.

Once many years ago when I was married my ex decided that WE were

Going to stop smoking. Well, he did really well and I didn't. I didn't want to smoke in front of him because I knew he'd start back. One day I'd been somewhere & had smoked in my car & he went out to get something out of it right after I got home. He came in and had a fit & went storming out. Came back in a few minutes later and very dramatically said " SO WHAT ELSE HAVE YOU BEEN DOING THAT I DON'T KNOW ABOU?" I still laugh when I think about it.
