A problem with my sauce/gravy

my tomatoes are too big for my son, and he will notice. BTW, he eats very well, so not toooo spoiled! Would anyone in 2 hours take out the meatballs and puree, or just make him eat as is?

If you still have two hours to go, they will probably break up more. Try

pushing them against the side of the pot with a woooden spoon, or picking up the large pieces and forcing them through a sieve. Other than that, take out the meatballs and puree away.

I do keep messing with them...

a shame that I ask that when we have hungrier children, sorry.

Not at all, the goal is to get him to eat it. My mom always made her vegetable soup with tomato>>

juice instead of tomatoes because my dad doesn't care for the pieces of tomato in his soup.

Good Mom!

I always remember my Mom making her signiture dish called "what the heck is it?" usually consisting of noodles with white or red sauce. tough days, but cherished.

My son does not do "chunky" - so I take his portion of sauce and pour

it through a slotted spoon onto his pasta - viola!

Everything turned out fine.

I ate a spaghetti sandwich for breakfast and will not crave carbs for a long time! My ds chowed! I did not alter anything for picky eaters, either.

Forcing to eat as is has been proven to be the wrong approach.

My son has grown up on the three try - 2 tablespoon rule. He tries it on three occasions, never more than 2 tablespoons being required. If he doesn't like it, he doesn't like it.

He has a much broader range of likes and healthier diet than I do, as he is always willing to try new foods and be the first to tell you it sucks if he believes that it does. Chopped tomatoes are not on his list of likes, he eats around them (as do I). We both will have small piles of tomatoes left on the plate, however mine will also have small piles of other foods thanks to a parent who required me to eat foods I could not stand.

No one should be required to eat something they don't like. That is why we have taste buds to begin with and why we are designed to also enjoy or not enjoy textures.

I should have said put it in front of him to try--not force.

You are correct. But if you "cater" to picky eaters with no direction to at least try different things then you reap what you sow.
