A question about nutrional labeling. I just finished eating a can of smoked baby clams...

and was looking at the nutrional label on it. These were baby clams packed in soy bean oil. It stated that the calories in about 1/2 the can was 90. My question is, are they assuming you are eating half the clams and half the oil or just the clams? I have wondered this before on other things. Does anyone know? Thanks.

It should refer to half of the can's contents - so you got less than the stated

kcals because you most likely didn't eat exactly half of the oil with your serving.

Thanks Lisa...

I just measured the oil left in the can, and it was over 2T. It probably contained some juices from the clams too. So this would appear to be a good low calorie food choice. It is so high in iron too. The whole can provides 120% of your nutrional needs for iron. Thanks!
