almost no regular iodized salt now, other than what I get in preprepared foods I buy and what little baking I do.

Is anyone who is hooked on seasalt, concerned about shortage of iodine in diet?

I wonder how Europeans get their iodine supply...

seafood is a good source of iodine. also, if you take a multi-vitamin and...

mineral supplement such as generic centrum silver for old farts like i do, you'll get all you need.

Thanks rvb, I've wondered the same thing as I only buy kosher and sea salt. I checked my

multi-vitamin called Nutrient 950 by Pure Encapsulations and found it has 133% of the daily recommended amount. I guess I can quit worrying, why didn't I think of that?

Interesting question

Actually Europe still has lingering iodine deficiency since they were much later starting the iodinization of salt than the US, not until the 90's I believe. And of course as the Europeans charge more for the iodized salt many people don't buy it.

But as rvb stated, if you take a standard multi-vitamin, you will get the RDA of iodine. My diet also includes rich iodine sources anyway from shellfish, seaweed, miso soup (from the kelp in the broth) and the like.

So even though Marg spoiled me on French fleur de sel, I won't be having iodine deficiency ; )
