Yikes, this is going to take some getting used to - pumpkins and stews in JUNE! What will I do in November when I want to do Thanksgiving dinner and it's Spring?!

The good news is that people here are telling me they are freezing and how this winter weather is a killer - it's 50 degrees! There are parkas and fur coats, boots and gloves being paraded on the streets!

Not too shabby for "winter"!

That would be a bit surreal and hard to adjust to. I feel a little like that here in Florida, the

growing season for the fresh veggies is roughly October through May, which means during the winter I'm dealing with a lot of foods that are usually associated with summer, then when summer comes it's slim pickings around here. I'm a little out of sync with the board. During the summer I look, drool and print the veggie recipes to use next fall. And 50 degrees is considered cold in Florida, we have to wear socks with our sandals. smileys/wink.gif

The first year I lived in Florida, Ft. Lauderdale area, it was so odd at Christmas time. It was so hot and we were putting up a tree. Christmas is never the same when I'm living in Florida.

Sandra, I always thought that would be very difficult

to adjust to. Please keep us posted how it goes and what the adjustments are like. I'm sure it's quite the adventure.

I can relate. Moving to 80 degree Hawaii from Minnesota in a January blizzard

The oddest thing was to put up a Christmas tree the next December. Cooking the Christmas feast was surreal too. I finally got used to it and I sure don't miss the cold weather.

Getting used to the switch in produce seasons would be harder than what I went through though.....

My first Christmas here, I just stood in a parking lot...

on Christmas Eve, in 96 degree weather gazing at palm trees wrapped up in tinsel.

Surreal is right.

Now you know hard I find it...all so confusing. June is when I start thinking of just the sort

of recipes you mention (having gone from South ... South Africa to the North....Caribbean) Curries, lots of them should be made and eaten at this time of year.
It is so darn hot here in the tropics during the Southern 'cold' months Sandra, I am glad to get to 'cooler' England to have those 'winter' dishes, albeit it is in the UK summer!

The other confusing thing going on for me at this time of year is...this is the end of the school year this side of the equator but December is the end of the school year in the South.

The other odd one...Our holidays are all year round, any time off from work or school, be it a long week-end or a festive celebration.....Northern holidays are "THE" holidays and mean mainly Christmas!!!!!

I saw some wonderful butternut in the store today and immediately thought of soup and curry but it is too hot to cook!
