A short list of everything you wanted to know about herbs

Dawn, regular parsley is a bienniel and it will winter over, sprout leaves in spring

to supply you while your new plants are getting going, then go to seed in summer. Don't pull it out!

Italian parsley is a true annual and it will go to seed the same year it is planted.

Forgot you were in upstate NY. Mulch should help. I read this tip in a book written in Connecticut,

so I assume the author had cold winters too.

By the way, Italian parsley is so pretty when it flowers--like Queen Anne's Lace--that I've grown it in flower borders.
