The Rogue Flamingo

Or the Pink Panther. This sweet fruit recipe is great for breakfast, an afternoon snack, or for dessert.

2 cups hulled strawberries

1 cup chopped watermelon

Juice of 2 freshly squeezed oranges

Juice of 1 freshly squeezed lime

½ cup ruby red grapefruit juice

Combine all of the ingredients in a blender until smooth. Cover and chill. Before serving, shake or stir, then pour into chilled glasses.

We loved this drink yesterday. It's a keeper and is a great hot weather refresher.

I would call it a Red Flamingo because I used frozen strawberries in the Vitamix; and rather than juicing the rest of the fruit, I used the oranges and grapefruit with the white pith for added nutrition. I did juice the other 1/2 a grapefruit to help put some liquid in the blender to help break down the frozen berries. It came to a beautiful red color.

I found this recipe on a raw food site, but it originally came from the site mentioned below.

I usually have ruby grapefruit juice, so use that.

Yeah, you Flosida kids like to show off. Actually we do have citrus most of the year.

Here's a really refreshing drink for summer.

Simply slice a cucumber and 3 or 4 limes into a pitcher, add water and refrigerate until chilled.

You can add slices of fresh pineapple and limes to a pitcher of water and chill.

I miss my citrus trees so much. It kills me to have to buy lemons and limes

at the grocery. I have planted peach, nectarine trees and asparagus since we moved here, but I sure miss my lemons. Oh and my Washington navels...yum!
Now the flipping Asian Pears...bah humbug and good riddance!!!

Me too Dawn....my lemon tree gives us the most beautiful, huge lemons with hardly any seeds

and the juice is wonderful. I bought my first stroe bought lemons last week in months, and I must say they cannot compare to the ones from our tree.
