About the chicken thigh thread above: I just did a demo and a lady from Hawaii. . .

did not want to taste the dish (with boneless, skinless chicken thighs in it). When I asked her why, she said that "When you live in Hawaii for years, you don't want to try any chicken thighs."

Question: Anyone from Hawaii out there feel the same way?

Question: If you are from Hawaii, is eating chicken thighs really something that is done waaaaay too much over there?

Huh? I am not sure why you got that comment but yes, thighs are used a lot here

I sure wouldn't say overused though-chicken is really popular in Hawaii and thighs were always cheaper than breasts or whole chickens.

For instance: there is a GREAT local favorite Hawaii dish called Chili Pepper Chicken. The way it is made is to grind up the tiny red local hot chili peppers and slather them over skin-on, bone-in chicken thighs. Cut the chicken thighs in thirds (through the bone) and deep fry until almost crisp and done- then at the last second, throw in shoyu (soy sauce) into the oil. Causes huge splattering and mess but then you take out the chicken, drain and eat it. Oh so good! You won't find that anywhere else smileys/smile.gif I had some just a few days ago. I forgot how good it is!
