You all have been with me since before I could cook, so I thought I'd share this little funny thing. I was on a chat forum talking with a guy who told me he was doing a pop up (one night) dinner. We'd never met but I'm always anxious to get my kitchen exposure so I asked if he needed some help. I warned him I was a home cook, but would be happy to jump in. He agreed and told me, not to worry. Most of the work would be done in advance, but he'd love some help. So there.
We talk a little bit more and he tells me that he just moved to Seattle from New York. And he used to work in a handful of restaurants there. "Oh yeah? Where?"
"Momofuku Ko."
Uh. Okay. I interviewed the owner several years ago and he said of all his restaurants, the guys who work at Momofuku Ko are like the "special forces" --the best of the best.
I reminded him that I was just a home cook. "Don't worry, you'll be fine."
Well, the dinner sold out in a flash and there's now another one on the books. Then today, the story got picked up by Eater. Crazy, right?!?
I just met some guy online and then.....Whoa! Here's the article.
