Alaska Bear Falls Through Skylight, Eats All the Cupcakes.

Me too, after all when one chooses to live where the wild things are, you must expect to have

an encounter now and then. I understand both sides of the issue, but I side with the bear. Up here folks are building in the foothills and call for help when the see a bear or mountain lion. They want them killed...what! You moved into their territory. Or build a block concrete fence around your place.

I agree. I have been following the Wildlife Center of Virginia for the last

4 years which is a wildlife hospital. They treat and care for all wild life big and small if they are injured or even very small bear cubs that have been orphaned or have been injured. They are a non profit teaching hospital and they do an amazing job of getting animals well and then relocate them back into the wild. They work very closely with DGIF. They have 3 critter cams. Last year they had 17 bear cubs that they cared for and released when they became yearlings. The bear cam is a riot to watch and they have 5 itty bitty cubs and 2 yearlings this year but the best is when an animal is released. Today a Bald Eagle that came in with a badly broken wing and a injured eye was released. It was a beautiful bird and was fun to watch it get well and build strength to fly well. To bad everyone can't think the same way about animals.

Would I simply go to their website and there would be links for the cams? We have some bald eagles

in our area that I follow. Last year the male was killed trying to protect his family. Moma was not able to see the eggs to term by herself. This year she came back with a younger and new mate but he ate the eggs. Two bad years in a row. Very sad for the community who love to watch.

Oh that's so sad. Wildlife can seem cruel sometimes. Here's the link

to the home page. Click on the tab that says Critter Corner and then click on "cams, #1 is on the bear yard. Sometimes you can see them, sometimes not. It's hot in Virginia right now and they have built in a pond area that they go to in the afternoon for a pool party. Cam zoomer kinda tries to catch them when they are being baby bears. #2 cam are owls. I don't watch often but that cam has an IR light and at night they become very active. There are a slew of orphaned babies with an injured adult. #3 is the eagle cam. The cam will move around in the flight pen where they are. There were 2 different nest trees in Virginia that came down in storms in about a 2 week time frame. 2 uninjured eaglets but the last 2 were injured. One died at the Center after about a week. The other has a broken pelvis but its now flying. All of them fledged after coming to the hospital. There is a blog at the side of the cam which is moderated and can be very informative. under each cam it will say what that cam is showing and you can click on the links about each animal and read why it was brought to the Center. These people are very famous for what they do for animals. Ed Clark started this Care Center something like 30 years ago. The State Dept. just asked and sent him to Russia this month to help them start up these non profit hospitals.

Those are fun to watch. WCV bear cam has been down since Mon. A mouse

ate a very important wire so waiting for it to be repaired. I also love watching bald eagle nests. Lot's of laughs...and tears.
