my feet / back hurt! Started cooking on Tues night... I feel achey... Dinner was a success. Over 30. Lots of laughs, stories, etc. It was very special. BUT, my feet really hurt.

I purposefully wore shoes or good slippers while cooking, but, did not do the trick, I really need to buy a mat....

Happy thanksgiving everyone! I am so grateful to have eat.at!!!

I've got my eye on those mats, but I'm afraid I'd trip over it, moving from one spot to another.

I'm right there with you barb...

Ouch.

Rank amateur here. I got up at six, had thanksgiving lunch with my family, ran home to finish the evening feast with the other half's family, and now I'm too tired to sleep.

But I must say, this Thanksgiving was the best ever Thanksgiving dinner I've ever had. Everything was absolute perfection. The free range turkey, mashed potatoes-rutabagas-parsleryroot-celeryroot-drownedinpoundsofsourcreambutterandcream were amazing as was the turkey gravy, the roux for the gravy, I stood and stirred for an hour to get a deep caramel. I made a gallon of turkey gravy and it's nearly gone!!!

And the big casserole of fluffly oyster dressing with the crispy browned top? Exactly as my grandmother made it. Perfection. Truly the first time I've managed to duplicate Grandma's oyster dressing that has been passed down through at least 10 generations.

I wear prescription orthodics, which have made long periods of standing possible for me.

Otherwise I find that stretching in general, particularly hamstrings, calfs. etc. helps my feet and back They're all connected.

But congrats on a wonderful dinner!

Over 30 people! Wow...

I also keep eyeing those mats, but so far what's worked for me for the last few years is a pair of these Birkenstocks to wear around the house. (I end up replacing them, or having them re-lined, every 4 or 5 years.) I sort of figured I could invest in a supportive mat that covers a 3 x 5 foot space in the kitchen, or I could invest in a smaller support system, but one that I can wear all over the house. Even with long, long days like yesterday, I find that my feet aren't screaming after stints at the sink, or chopping, etc.
