Amount of pulled pork from a pork butt

I made pulled pork for DS to take to beach and measured my amounts just for curiosity.

. I got a nice butt (99c/lb.) of about 7.5#, cooked and pulled--packaged. And it came to about 5# of finished pork--no sauce. Also, for a packaging estimate, the 1 quart freezer bag packed tight with the pork weighs about a pound and a half. I mean packed and salid. When heated it "expands" and loosens of course.

In the past I have found this will serve about 35-40 IIRC. I have sometimes measured it out in a cup measure to get the servings

That only allows for about 1/8th of a pound of meat per serving

I don't know your DS, but no son of mine would be happy with that sandwich!

I'm guessing that you will only feed about 6 to 8 hungry lads with that amount of meat, even with a lot of sides!

Well, I guess this wasn't as helful as I thought, but the measurement is. I will walk back the 35-40

It's been over a year since I did it for that many and I probably did 2 butts for that event. I never like to run out. I know it will serve 25 with regular sides. Maybe that will be more helpful. I was thinking people would be interested in the amount of shrinkage
And yes, Karen, it is on a bun. We put sauce on at the serving time in the Carolinas. Along with slaw.
If I were doing it for a graduation party of young people, I would OF COURSE gear it to their needs and wants.
Additionally 1/2C of meat packed weighs 3 oz.
