Ang...How was the shopping?

I'm still unpacking. LOL. I have 3 lovely Meyer lemons in the fridge. I don't want to cut into

them though. Can't do much with 3 except make lemon drop cocktails, dontcha think. Is the zest worth freezing? I bought them more for the seeds. Marg, did you let the seeds dry out or just stick them into some soil? I bought chunks of Ghiradelli white chocolate and Almondina cookie wafers and licorice and curry simmer sauce from TJs and German chocolates for Easter from Cost Plus. Italian chopped salad and hummus and bagel chips for the hotel room for lunch/snack from TJs and crispy elephant ear cookies too. Shopped Macys and Nordstrom Rack for lots of good winter clearance clothes. I filled up my empty duffel bag and we had to pack up a box too. I brought back some lovely Asian Lily bulbs from the flower show in varieties I do not see up here. I could have spent a small fortune there for my garden. Got lots of good ideas though. DH passed on the garden show, so I was free to wander on my own. I satisfied 3 of my passions on this trip: gardening, cooking and shopping. Fun. And more importantly, DH had good medical test results and we had a lovely visit with the grandkids. 2 more passions. And I have a good supply of "lifted" Cafe Appassionato coffee for my little coffee maker from the hotel room. Gotta love those Seattle coffee roasters.

I've never frozen zest. But I think the ML zest is lovely and it would be worth trying. My

seeds were just in the blotter in a glass method with daily water to blot up from the bottom.. It worked perfectly for the kaffir limes but these Meyer guys are really holding back. Nothing yet.

What kind of bulbs did you find??

As I mentioned, I always travel with a collapsed box and bubble wrap in the bottom of my suitcase. Almost always, I have something that becomes an extra piece because it won't fit into the suitcase. I do like to shop.

Sounds like a worthwhile trip. ANd when you say "successful tests", do you mean that the results were successful too?

No kaffir lime leaves?

You can also dry it...

I learned this from a local pastry chef: Put the zest between paper towels and zap it in the microwave for short bursts. The heat will suck out the moisture.

Like Cheezz says, zest freezes beautifully- I freeze it in water so there is no "burn" later

Glad you had a good trip- really glad about good DH doc results.

DH threw the seeds in the trash. I rescued them. will make lemon/orange marmalade with the other 2

I'm hoping mine have just been in hibernation, given the lack of sun. I've now moved them to a

sunny window and will expect nothing less than instant response by them. It's so difficult to find sun here in winter.
