Ang's Stupidly Simple Choc-covered Cherry Cake question

I took this to the teachers' workroom once and it disappeared in minutes!

How would it work as layers with whipped cream and more cherries, like a quick Black Forest cake?

Chocolate Covered Cherry Cake

1 box fudge cake mix

1 can cherry pie filling

2 eggs

1 teaspoon almond flavoring

Mix together by hand until well blended.

Pour into a greased 13x9-inch pan. Bake at

350 degrees for 25 minutes. Cool and frost

with fudge frosting.

Or make frosting by boiling together 1/2 cup

sugar, 3 Tbsp. milk or juice and 3 Tbsp.

margarine for 1 minute. Add 1 cup choc.

chips and stir until smooth. Pour over

I think it would be delish---just be careful taking it out of the pans. it might be quite moist

from the cherries in the batter to release easily from the pans, but I can picture a very pretty cake with the whipped cream/cherry filling and maybe some chocolate drizzled over the top!
