I finally did it! It was a time consuming cake, but well worth the results. I did split the layers and came out great. Made it for my brother's "big" birthday--he loves buttercream.
I used 12 oz of strawberry preserves for the filling. I have no idea how 2/3 cup would cover 4 layers!!
