Any advice on Puerto Rico...

I emailed my brother, who's been twice in the last three or four years.

This is the first email response I've received from him in under 72 hours, so...congratulations?! smileys/wink.gif Per Brian (edited for grammar, because I'm his sister and because I copyedit everything):

"As far as PR goes, while we've driven all over, I think our short list would be:

1. Castillo San Felipe Del Morro. (Amazing views!)
2. Viejo San Juan. (Beautiful pastel building colors, small enchanted cobblestone streets reminiscent of Italy, and some wonderful restaurants!) (Editor: Duh. Also, WHICH RESTAURANTS? I've emailed for specifics.)
3. El Yunque Rainforest. (Incredible views, great ruins/towers to walk among, wonderful facilities, some great local craftspeople and artisans as well. Worth the drive or tour bus, but get out and do a hike or foot tour--also worth it!.)
4. Bioluminescent Bay (Vieques) or Lake (Fajardo). It's fun, you get wet, and it is NOT a gimmick. The agitation of the water in your kayak makes the water glow. It's breathtaking. The glowing water will bead up on your lap and slowly dim. Nature is indeed amazing. The Fajardo tour goes through a series of mangrove forests that are really pretty impressive, as is the nature living within them as well."

I've been there many times, but it was always work related. I've done a beach and will be doing #4

in April. I've done the walk in Old San Juan, and the forts. There is a really great "authentic" restaurant in center of San Juan. Let me see if I can dig up the name. Have fun! When are you going?

We hit it on a cruise so our experience was limited but

We walked from the dock up to El Morro stopping at a museum on the way and then we caught a taxi ride from hell, well it wasn't as bad as the one in Naples but.... He wanted to show us EVERYTHING and we only had limited time AND we had left Kristen back on the ship (she was like 12 or so). He took us basically along the coastline and we saw the luxurious and then he ventured into the neighborhoods to show us where he lived then back to the coastline. I have never seen so many condom stores in my life!!! But he was taking us out to El Yungue. The little food huts along the route are where you want to stop - great, very fresh food.
