Any feedback on the ebelskiver pancake pan?

I've had a cast iron aebleskiver pan for decades but the holes were larger. BUT>>>

I made "fire starters" using sawdust (free from the lumber yard) and used candle stubs. They make a nice Winter gift for someone with a fireplace. Put in a nice basket with a red/plaid bow. I think I saw some in an LLBean or Eddie Bauer catalogue Years ago and thought...I know how they did that & I can do it!

Barb, Lodge makes a plain cast iron one, also $40, which may outlive a nonstick one.

I'm sitting in the cooking store now looking right at it. It should be available everywhere.

Thanks for the tip...I have been having fun with family/friends telling them that an ebelkskiver is

on my list...I get some funny responses...One was "Bless you"...ie it sounded like I sneezed...Also funny how with a couple of glasses of wine, how my friends suddenly became danish with their diction....

Also funny the guesses from many as to what it is...especially if I just non-chalantly say, I would really like an aeblekiver for Christmas....(And leave it at that)

I think my sis was slightly dissapointed because>>>

the Lodge one which I had loaned her for about 10 years had larger holes than the Williams Sonoma one.
another thing is the Lodge can be put into the oven, but I think the WS one couldn't because of the handle. She/I also baked in it.

Joe, does your store promote your classes as a gift giving opportunity? It's fun to give cooking

classes as a gift and then go as a small group. Just wondering if that happens much with your classes.

Your a tease Luisa!! I searched amazon, and appam is not a pan!! : )

Seriously....Where did you find it??? It is on my list this year.... Tx for thinking of me! smileys/smile.gif

I was looking for another recipe (I forgot which since is WAS yesterday)

and it was on an Indian site. I guess they cook Appams in the Monks (Aebleskiver) pan.
(For SHAME on my above grammar and spelling errors, since I cannot correct them now)

They look beautiful!! I will ask erin if she can make them! : ) ((She is the only person I know

from Prague!)) I agreed with all of the comments that were detailed! : )

Best,
Barb

Thanks, Ang. It's starting to happen. One of my students has booked a private class in February that

she will give as a present to her children and their SO's. It's a great idea, and it's fun when everyone already knows each other.

We're doing a "mixer" next Wednesday where all teh chefs will meet and offer samples of our food to promote the class. It's an after-hours party that was advertised by email to the whole customer base.

It's so tough right now--the owner has taken a second job cooking at a banquet hall to make ends meet! But we're all trying.
