Any thoughts on buying the ice cream maker attachment for the Kitchen Aid mixer? My son is thinking

of doing this but I really like machines to be separate. Anyone have one or know how well it works.?

As much as I covet new toys, I have a separate ice cream maker (Cuisinart) (more)

and love it..
I would expect that the KA bowl would thaw out quicker than the stand-alone alternatives...
and tie up your mixer at the same time.
Also the bowl seems to be larger than most stand-alone bowls that need to be pre-frozen...taking up more room in your freezer.

I am getting one "free" as a bonus for buying a new KA mixer! I'll report on it

when it arrives. It will be going to my son's address as we are between Bastrop and Summerville post offices. (Hooray, the end is near!!!)

I rec'd a cuisinart red ice cream maker last weekend. I think the family / neighbors were tired

of hearing me sob about missing a part to mine AND, they ran out of "Barb is missing her paddle" jokes. It ended up being around $24.00 at cosco. I am excited. (Look for a coupon)

So, who is Jeni? Will have to track down a good ice cream / sorbet cookbook.
