Anybody tried Costco's Schwan's Thanksgiving Meal?

pretty expensive for 5# of turkey breast, some potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc.

greenbeans and dessert even including shipping. And you still have to cook it. Is this for you or to be sent to someone who might not be able to shop?
We are probably going to order our T'giving dinner from our son in law's restaurant--not sure what it will be. Oysters for sure. AND eating it "outdoors" at the rooftop deck (covered but open) of one of his restaurants for safety for the family getting together.
If you are looking for something already cooked most large supermarkets do it for takeout.

Oli, I grew up eating Schwan's ice cream and it is a reliable company even today

I think the price is really good considering everything you get- and no hassle for shopping! I would go for it.

The customer reviews are pretty good too. So why not?

As we get older, sometimes we need to make life easier for ourselves.
Best to spend time with guests instead of slaving in the kitchen. Says the woman who has done it for more than 25 years..... smileys/smile.gif

Think of it with built in leftovers, which our family loves. . .

As there will be no big get-together this year (Covid AND I have sugery a week before) it think it sounds great.

But, as my sister pointed out: no STUFFING. And is the gravy any good? She has to have stuffing with T-day dinner, and if I have mashed potatoes, well, the gravey better be good.

I'm not sure there would be much leftover for a dinner for 8--and maybe even 4

sandwich but not cranberry sauce or stuffing for that goodie. Maybe not enough gravy leftover to make a hot brown open face!!
And I have heard Schwan is a good product and would trust Costco to sell a good product.
The costco site I first took info from did not list the inclusions from corn down through dessert.
Here’s what’s included in their Thanksgiving Meal:

Ready-to-Roast Turkey Breast (5 lbs.)
Creamy Mashed Potatoes (2.5 lbs.)
Gravy
Roasted Sweet Potatoes (2 lbs.)
Green Beans (36 oz.)
Super-Sweet Corn (36 oz.)
18 Southern-Style Biscuit Dough
9″ Pumpkin Pie
10″ Old-Fashioned Apple Pie
Classic Vanilla Ice Cream (56 oz.)
I still think the amounts per serving are not very generous but the cost (on sale) is getting closer to reasonable for what is actually about $50 worth of food.

I "might" order this for a faraway elderly relative in the boonies so they wouldn't have to shop at the grocery. But I would probably first call Whole Foods or Safeway or IGA in their town and ask if they had a T'giving dinner my relative could drive by to pick up.
But this is me. As I said, we are having a really different dinner this year because of the pandemic and I am sure others are also.

There is plenty of food unless you are feeding lumberjacks or teenage boys.

Not sure if this compares but I got a 10-12# roasted turkey & gravy from Publix last year. What a

disappointment. It cost $39 just for the pre-cooked turkey plus I bought an extra quart of gravy... it was almost $50 when I left with the turkey. And I still had to warm it up.

Very dry, no taste, almost no seasoning. I tend to overdo on my sides so I thought this would be a good way not to have to worry about a large piece of meat coming out right when I was focusing on all the other stuff while dealing with out-of-town company.

NEVER doing this again. At least not Publix. I did note their entire dinner this year cost $49.99, which includes the mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry and some ambrosia thing.

We talked about how to do our T'gving and one thing that was on the list

was a Bojangles fried turkey. We would probably still have to cook another for our group of 11 (maybe, if everyone can come). Fried turkeys are pretty small--but GOOD.
The turkey we are serving from DSIL's restaurant is "confit" so not sure what that will be exactly. I may just have to cook a turkey to distribute for leftovers!!
Small turkeys are really hard to cook "right"--
