Anyone doing Fat Flush?

My husband and I are doing the Fat Flush diet. Has anyone here done this diet and come up with some recipes? We're in phase 1 which I hate - no salt, no caffein. The plan has lots of flexibility but the recipes are few and not too inspiring. Help!

I've been doing Fat Flush since Dec. 12 and LOVE it! (more>)

I'll admit that I merely cut way back on salt and I do use a couple of sprinkles a day. I've still had AWESOME results. I've known lots of people with similar success on this plan, so I encourage you to find a way to make as much of it work for you as possible. If you have to cheat and use a few sprinkles of salt -- why not? I figure if I stall out on losing, I can always cut out salt later.

As for "recipes" ... I basically take the whole foods approach: lots of fresh fruits, steamed veggies, etc. Eating lots of salads with protein (grilled chicken, or thawed frozen shrimp), using only flaxseed oil as my dressing. From the swap recipes, I can tell you I've made Sandra's delicious machaca (for Christmas eve), and Michael's tasty pulled pork (New Year's day) -- enjoyed those and kept on losing weight. You can pull those from the archives and decide for yourself.

Good luck! Let me know if you want to discuss this more, and we can do the email bit.

It's a liver detox and healthy food plan...

My friend told me about it and that it made her lose inches from places that had forgotten how to get smaller. Her husband said he was seeing curves he hadn't seen since she was 20. She is very athletic and into tennis and a healthy eater normally so I paid attention to what she said. The diet is by Ann Louise Gittleman and the book is Fat Flush Plan. There are a few versions out now to go with it. The plan detoxifies the liver so it can function better and enable you to lose weight. There are three phases with the third being a general lifestyle method. I'm in the first phase and it's hard - no salt, no caffein, no sugar. You drink tons of cranberry water and take Omega-3 and flax seed. I was shocked at how good the flax seed tastes so I don't mind it at all and even sprinkle it on food for texture. I'll let you know how it goes! Angela

It's tough...

I'm having a hard time getting started. I'm not used to cooking this way so it's taking me longer to make dinner. Tonight we had lemon & dill poached salmon, kale with onion & tomatoes (found out I love kale!), roasted cauliflower and romaine lettuce with artichokes, onion and tomato in a flax seed oil dressing. It was actually pretty good and my kids ate it too. They got berries and cream for dessert though - lucky boys. I would love to lose about 15lbs. I just want to feel better and have more energy. Some days I feel 80 and I'm only 35. I bought the little trampoline but I can't get my boys off it yet! We're going to give it a real effort. The no-coffee is killing my poor hubby. I miss the butter. I'll let you know if I come up with any great recipes. Angela

The results will inspire you, and your energy will skyrocket! I've already lost >

22 pounds, and I can tell you that on Weight Watchers it took me more than twice as long to lose that same amount. (I also realize I'm losing more slowly than some others on the plan, but I'm not complaining!)

Glad you have a friend who's already a success story for you. If you need a boost in moral support, I'm here for ya!

Now you've inspired me to go out and get the book..

I too am on weight watchers and find that it takes forever for me to lose the weight. I'll give this a try. smileys/smile.gif

I'm already losing ....

We've only been on the diet a few days and are following it 95%. I weighed this morning and I've lost about two pounds. I had a great night sleep which isn't normal for me. My biggest problem is that I'm a stay-at-home mom and food is available. It's very hard to fix the boys a yummy lunch and not get any. I didn't realize how much I would miss salt because I'm not really a salt person. I guess my tastebuds will change and it will become less of a sacrifice. I'm going to suck it up and go bounce on my trampoline now. I am going to be a hottie this Summer. What protein powder do you like?

Yah, but the weight stays off with WW! And it's normal eating.

I'd be way more tempted to go off of this FF diet I think. I'd like to know more of your results from you folks on it now. I've never heard of this. As WW says, "you didn't put the weight on quickly, so why would it come off quickly?"

There is a lifestyle phase....

The first phase is the hardest. It's where you break your cravings and get your liver healthy. You build up your omega-3 and get over caffein. Phase two (weeks 3&4) add back a lot of things. Some people do the Fat Flush to get healthier and detox their liver and some do it to also lose weight. Phase three is the lifestyle plan. It is a healthy way to eat for your whole life. There are special sections in the book about eating out and how to eat different ethnic foods. There is also a website forum for support, recipe ideas and information. It's a very good program centered around good health. A lot of quick-burn programs are just water loss or extrememe. Fat Flush lets you eat quite a lot of food - it just teaches you what the good foods are and why.

I haven't been doing the protein powder, That keeps it more "normal" for me, and I keep losing! nt

Please don't discredit the program if you don't know about it.

Similar to the *basic* Weight Watchers approach, on Fat Flush you change your intake of the various food groups and you learn to plan better and make better choices.

Unlike WW (and so many other plans), FF doesn't have pre-packaged or frozen foods. I remember that we used to be able to eat a WW mock ice cream sandwich then write it down as "2 fruits and a bread" (or whatever). My 29-year-old mind didn't want to see that as bogus, but my 44-year-old mind does. FF reinforces the strategy of eating whole foods in optimal balance.

As for eating normally, that's exactly what I'm doing. I'm also cooking for my family of four; entertaining; contributing to pot lucks; going out to lunch and dinner. I haven't felt deprived for a moment. I don't follow Fat Flush to the letter, which means I choose certain allowances like adding a bit of salt if the food calls for it. I also don't use protein powder (suggested, but not required, on Fat Flush) because I'm adamant about sticking to whole foods.

I've averaged a loss of 2 pounds a week, a healthy rate. I feel great. When I allow myself a cheat, I feel it and see it right away. Talk about negative reinforcement -- those "cheating" foods have lost their appeal. I'm sticking with Fat Flush and will post my complete success story when I hit my final goal.

I really didn't mean to discredit it...I did want to hear more about it ...

and probably should have clarified that. Weight Watchers keeps evolving and has gotten much better than perhaps it was when you looked into it. It is also based on healthy eating choices. Those WW pre-packaged and frozen foods are only an option and aren't even part of the classes I've been to. Don't think I've ever tried one. At any rate, thanks for the information...I am curious as to how the FF system works.
