Anyone else have an old Copco Dutch oven?

I just bought this one, after reading nearly every posting on the Internet about alternatives to Le Creuset (one day, perhaps). Various People on the Internet simply gush about vintage Copco, and my parents had some pieces they loved...but I was hoping someone here would say, "Yes! What a great steal!"

And if that sucker arrives with any scratches inside, I'm going to be peeeeeeeeeeved, because I really want to make Richard's Posole in it. (Thanks to Mark in Houston for posting the recipe!)

Yes! What a steal!

I actually don't have a dutch oven, but a small one that I got in the 70's. It's still going strong! Much better than the lighter weight Danskware that I liked (then) so much better because it was lighter.

I've had one of the black ones since '77. Survived a house fire and countless kitchen faux pas

Used to sell cookware at Bullock's and I got my 3 quart matte black casserole for .25 cents because it had a little ding in it. One of the perks, in those days. Didn't even know the stuff was still available. Enjoy!

Bullock's is probably where my mom got her pieces, Steve. smileys/smile.gif

(Either at Bullock's Wilshire or at the Fashion Island branch.) My heart belongs to the cafe at Buffum's, though, where I used to poke their Jello-mold salads with wonder.

My friend Anna has one that she found, completely grime encrusted, at a garage sale

once she soaked it and cleaned it with bon ami it was so gorgeous!

My mom has a harvest gold one from the 60's, it was the pot of choice to bring baked beans or sailing chili to outings and it would keep everything warm for hours.

I really want one myself...
