Anyone have a cold brew coffee recipe they love?

I've volunteered to bring 2 gallons to a bridal shower on Saturday and haven't figured out the perfect concentration for black, unsweetened, over ice - the hosts are providing the add-ins. I've been using Pioneer Woman's concentrate recipe for many years - turns out it's cold brew (who knew smileys/wink.gif - for decaf I drink during the day, but I can add more water, half and half, sweetened condensed milk and flavored sweetener based on whim-of-the-day. I'm planning to dilute the concentrate (somehow?) but was hoping for a more perfectly pourable recipe. Anyone? Colleen

Ree's recipe

1 # rich, ground coffee

2 gallons water

I use this toddy maker. It uses 12 oz of ground coffee and yields 56 oz of coffee concentrate.

The concentrate can be refrigerated for a couple of weeks with no loss of flavor. You mix it with two parts liquid of choice (milk, water, soy milk, almond milk, etc.), so one batch of concentrate would make approximately 1 1/3 gallons of hot or iced coffee.

I've had mine for a couple of decades. Makes the best iced coffee I've ever had.

Thank-you, Michael! So, if you were taking your brew to a bridal shower

for guests to serve themselves into ice filled glasses, what would you take? I'm wondering if I dilute your concentrate with one part water, do you think it will still be tasty straight up but also with milk and/or cream and/or sugar added? Colleen

IAfter reading her recipe, I think this is for straight up iced coffee--not diluted.

I do not think it would be strong enough in flavor for my taste personally.
I have liked coffee concentrate and my recipe is much like Michael's--12 oz. coffee plus 7C water. Allow to sit overnight and do not stir.
This makes a very good non-acidic brew--amazingly smooth. For a cup of (hot) coffee I probably mix it half and half.
You might need to just make a batch for testing purposes--it is great to have on hand in the fridge.

Colleen, I use a 50/50 mix of concentrate and hot water to make a cup of...

...regular coffee from this mix.

If I want iced coffee, I use about 2/3 concentrate poured over ice with the remaining 1/3 cold liquid (more water, half and half, milk, almond/coconut milk blend, etc. Whatever you like!).

So, if you want a blend for your guests to pour over ice, I would dilute the concentrate by 1/3 with water or another liquid of choice. That would be good over ice. If you want it a bit lighter, go 50/50 with the dilution. It would still be good over ice, but not as strong.

If your guests used the one part water to two parts concentrate, premixed by you and placed out for them to pour over ice, they could still add a bit of cream (or whatever) and it would be good.

Colleen, Whole Foods here carries N.O. Brew cold brew coffee concentrate

It's in the chilled section & is stellar. The bigger bottle is fairly big. It is lots easier than all the straining & very good.
i really like the Mocha.

One suggestion for your coffee bar-bottles of chocolate syrup. I use sugar free.
