Anyone have a to-die-for hot crab artichoke dip?

Questions- artichokes in water or in oil? And what is Blue Plate mayo? A brand?

I'm going to try this one. Mine doesn't have crab in it.

I think the Blue Plate mayo is from the south where this TV show originated. it just had the

nicest recipe post for the Homer spread. just use your favorite---most likely Best Foods out here in the West. I have used both artichokes in water and also marinated/drained. the marinated ones give it more twang but be sure to drain off most of the oil. this is really good served on top of halibut---spread on halibut then bake.

remember the appie that mixes mayo/parm/onions and bakes on top of mini ryes or crostini?

this topping puffs up and browns like that appie. really yummy on fish. it's a bit rich for salmon, but nice on a plain fish like halibut. I think it's known as Halibut Olympia.

Okay. What is this term "appie"? EVERYbody out here uses it & I've never heard it before.

They go for "walkies" and eat "appies". Is it exclusive to the west coast?

In California we eat "appies" but we don't go for "walkies" unless we're talking to our lappies

(That's lap dog, and I just now made it up.)

Like Ang I only use "appie" when typing but it's because I can never remember if it's spelled with an s or a z.

It's either, depending on how British your spelling is. It's a surprise to me that this terminology

extends all the way down the coast and up the coast. I've really never run into it before. It stuns me that everyone uses it here (except me).

On the east coast I think we cut it back further to just "apps" (Or at least in our house!) : )

Yes - here on the east coast we say apps - a little confusing now with the apps for a phone...
