Anyone have both black bean sauce with garlic and chili bean sauce? What's the difference? My

recipe calls for the chili bean sauce and all I have is black bean sauce with garlic. I'm wondering if the bean sauce with garlic heated up with some chili sauce would be an acceptable substitute or are they two completely different things?

 
Doesn't that look good? My jarred version uses soy beans instead of black beans. I solved the

problem by switching recipes. Even though I think my black bean sauce with garlic would have been okay, I realized I didn't have another ingredient, green onions.
