Anyone have experience with chocolate beet cake? Do you have a T&T recipe?

Oh Barb, let me preface this by saying that I dislike beets with a passion, but why not just make a

red velvet cake? :eek:)

 
Hi Barbara - I think you will have trouble finding something that is both

a chocolate-y flavor and a "red velvet" red color. I tried a few with my son, who loves RVC, but we could never find one that was the right color/flavor.

If you are looking for a chocolate-y cake, the amount of chocolate/cocoa needed to get the chocolate flavor predominant will overtake the red coloring of beets or red food coloring, in my experience. The chocolate-y beet cakes will not have a true red color.

I would definitely taste test whichever cake you decide on, the beets can be quite a predominant flavor.
