specifically to Arcadia and are supposed to be some huge chain that is set to have markets which will compete with Trader Joes- THIS all in TJ's Backyard!!!! (literally)

They are taking over my local "former" Von's and I just wondered if anyone has experience with them- I understand they are British

Oh Tesco!

IT was one of my choices in the UK - they're not bad, but not great either, very middle of the road - I can't imagine how they will compete with Trader Joes, totally different store with different products.

Tesco doesn't have specialty items, they have groceries, household stuff like detergents, cheap clothing, electricals,etc... and fruits and veg - they have a "Finest" range, but it's limited -

Maybe tey're going to change the whole concept for the USA?

Have a look at their website: http://www.tesco.com/

The UK's answer to Wal-Mart...

I didn't care for them much in London, but, to be honest, their supermarket is my standby, here. Actually, about the only thing I buy from them is groceries...

Their sales help zip around on in-line skates, which , while cute, does turn customers into slow-moving obstacles. As long as I'm not run over, I consider it a good day. smileys/wink.gif

And they're the only store here to carry spicy shredded cheese for quesadillas! smileys/smile.gif

Wow, so a TJ's-like store is a real departure for them!

But according to them, that is what they have in "store" (sorry) for us!!!

Keep us posted...

Any departure from run of the mill daily ingredients was a real stretch for them in the UK -

I can't imagine how they're going to pull that one off, but you never know...
