Anyone know the oil to chocolate ratio for dipping cookies?

I have a recipe that calls for 1 oz. shortening to 12 oz. chocolate

I use it to dip the bottoms of coconut macaroons. I have never used oil, so I don't know if the proportions would be the same. I have another recipe that calls for 2 cups of chocolate chips (12 oz.) to 1 tbsp. butter.
