Plus, crawling out of my sick bed after 7 days, not leaving the house for 7 days, unshaven, I got the Wednesday 10% Senior Citizen discount off my entire order. I must look a fright. LOL...

Really good stock up sale though, after I got checked out and bagged, I was going out the door with two carts loaded down and a 3-ft. long register receipt and only spent $160! I've spent that much before going out of the store with 4 bags in the cart (I had 14 today). The savings on the advertised sale items came to $75 and I didn't use any coupons.

The cashiers at my local store are elderly ladies and they were all over my cart, commenting on it, and saying I was an old-fashioned shopper. "Look, not 1 piece of junk food in the entire cart!," "Someone is going to do some baking!" LOL I came out with 30#/flour, 24#/sugar, whole pumpkins, 21#/turkey, 16#/chicken, pork roasts, a massive amount of produce. They were down right giddy checking me out.

All of the holiday baking supplies are on sale: Flour (5lb. 1.89), Sugar (4lb. $1.99), Brown & Confectioner's Sugar (2-lb bags $1.47).

All the crackers that are normally $3.69 are $2.00.

3# bags of local apples $2.99-3.99 depending on variety (and there are about 2 dozen different varieties to select from).

Turkeys (.79/lb), Roasting Chickens (1.69/lb.). There were some unadvertised specials too, I got a manager's special of whole, skinless, boneless chicken breast (16) for $15 that I'm individually wrapping for the freezer. 4 lbs. of Brats for $12. 8-piece fried chicken dinner with 2-1# sides, and 4 dinner rolls for $9.99 from the deli.

And fresh raspberries and blackberries were $2/carton.

Off to make the cranberry relish, which will feature fresh raspberries this year!

wishing you good mojo for cooking today/tomorow. don't overdo!! I checked our IGA

down in Kenai, and they have a fill the freezer sale with package bulk buy assortments. good buy for down there. cheaper buys here in Anchorage though. our IGAs are all small independents in remote areas, so the prices reflect that. we do try to shop there though---local and all.
