Anyone making anything new for their holiday food gifts/baskets this year? Whatcha making?

I'm thinking of trying pomegranate jelly since I wasn't able to get any summer jams made this year (any late season jam recommendations welcome). I'd love to be able to gift 3 kinds, but would love something T&T.

Homemade gingerbread playdough was a big hit with the kids last year, so I may make more to include (it smells SO good).

I want to repeat my snoopy holiday cookies this year, IF I can find someplace that carries extra large multi-colored candy pearls. Really need them to replicate a string of lights and had no luck finding.

Want to make something from Classic Liqueurs: The Art of Making and Cooking With Liqueurs - I have it checked out from the library right now, but I can't decide on what to make (and also many recipes seem like now would be a late start).

The chocolate peanutbutter surprise cookies will make a repeat this year -- love them! Iced sugar cookies are a staple and some quick bread, but not sure about the rest to include yet.

Any thoughts? What's on your list?

Limoncello

I just got through making a batch of this - delish! I found inexpensive glass olive oil 'cruets' at Walmart for $2.95 - each holds about 1 1/2 cups and then I attached a pretty favor tag with satin ribbon.

Limoncello, Martha Stewart March 05

• 11 lemons
• 1 liter vodka
• 3 cups sugar
• 3 cups boiling water

Zest lemons. Reserve lemons for another use. Put zest and vodka in an airtight container; let stand at room temperature at least 2 days or up to 1 weeks.

Stir together sugar and boiling water until sugar is dissolved; let cool. Stir in sugar mixture into vodka mixture; refrigerate in an airtight container 1 day.

Before putting into bottles, put through sieve to remove zest.

May be stored in the freezer up to 3 months

cheezz, I've found this is the only thing that works with Photobucket

lately since all of my photos look like they are under a microscope. I'm assuming that's where you put the image?

Okay. Here's my work-around.
Do this BEFORE COPYING the hyperlink to eat.at/swap
1. Upload image to Photobucket
2. Select EDIT in the menu right over the image.
3. Select RESIZE
4. All of my images are uploading as 1024 by ~800 pixels, so I reduce the largest (1024) to 600...and the other number automatically reduces to ~400. That gives me an on-screen image around 4" wide here.
5. Hit Apply
6. Hit Save AND check the REPLACE ORIGINAL box.
7. If you get an error message at the top of the screen saying something like "Oops...something happened, try again" just give up, delete that image and start the process over again. Once I get that error message, it makes no difference if I change the size. The hyperlink image will still be huge.

Once I confirm the resize has taken, only then do I select the hyperlink and paste it here. That method has been working so far.

Remember, if you upload the image and immediately copy the hyperlink HERE first, it will be huge. You will need to go back to photobucket and RESIZE. Then it takes shutting down and reopening my browser before the edited image replaces here, so it's easier to just do the resize FIRST.

May I ask to what point would you make these to give away?

Would you have them assembled, frozen? Or freshly made each time. They look delicious.

Thanks
Betty

That's exactly what I did...and what I've done before! It's actually just under 600x400

I even checked a couple of my other pic sizes and some are even larger pixels, but appear normal - not gigantic! I'm going to go do it all over again....

We've found that if you make them, then put in a covered container in the fridge,

that they are still perfect by day 5. I fully made and assembled them, then wrapped well and froze them 2 weeks ago. When I need to give some, I remove some and pop them in a ziploc until they fully thaw, which is pretty fast. This has been my favorite cookie this year!

FYI, everytime I do a replace orignal in PB it screws it up...I save as new

and it seems to be ok. I have to do this with everything I need to rotate and PB rotates things at will, no matter if you have auto rotate on upload turned on now or not. Ever since their "upgrade" everything is much more difficult and/or a pain.

I'm hoping not:) Thank you cheez for answering my question. I

hope to make them soon.
Betty
