by Bob Warden on cooking Slow Foods Fast. I thought I would enjoy learning about pressure cooking for $1.00 and also the $$ were going to a good cause. SO, after perusing, I am intrigued about electric pressure cookers. Anyone have one? Use one? Thoughts? Comments?

I laugh thinking that a $1.00 book, may cost me a bundle to purchase a pressure cooker!!!

The only experience I have with one is when I was a kid, and we had a stove top one for corn. The corn tasted great, but it completely scared me. I am intrigued by an electric one.

I only use it for artichokes if I'm in a hurry. I'm not a fan of chicken/etc in it.

It's super moist and many like that, but I don't.

Pressure cookers are fabulous for dried beans and pot roast/braise type things

My mom always made Swiss Steak with tomato sauce & potatoes in a pressure cooker.

I LOVE my PC--beans, stew in 45 minutes, pea soup, etc.

I agree with not bothering with the electric one. And I would not get one less than 6 quarts--you cannot fill it past a safe line.

Thank you! Will keep an eye out for one in the local consignment / thrift shops. I love a quest!

Barb, if you find an older used one you may need to order a new (inexpensive) gasket

If the gasket doesn't feel soft & flexible it can fail & either not create pressure, or worse, fail under pressure & make a mess.
