Anyone tried a "papino melon"? New in our market ...sort of pale translucent and....

eggplant sort of purple markings, egg-shaped and about the size of an elongated pear...so strange as for once the shelf packer could give me a name. How does one eat these and what an odd cross...a ground fruit with a tree fruit???

WELL, NOW, with that recommendation I MUST try it in a salad....

It just looked so ummm, well, translucent in the skin.....I should buy one anyway and try to grow it from the seeds....
I'll let you know...
Actually "sponspek"... S. African cantelope make the palms of my hands itch....so I kind of don't eat melon this side of the world. So it will be interesting to see if I have any reaction to this

 
We have them here- I find them to be sort of uninteresting but it is possible that

...the ones I bought were not ripened properly. I love melons as a rule but this was not something I would pay the high price for again.
